First off, the number of companies entering the market is on a rise. And IPOs are being announced by the dozen. In the first half of 2021, companies raised ₹27,417 crore through IPOs - and it’s the highest among the six-month periods over the past decade! Secondly, retail participation in the markets is on a steady rise. In the NSE alone, retail investors’ market share has risen from 33% since 2016 to 45% in 2021. Rapid digitization and the rise of easy online trading solutions have made it possible for individuals to invest in the stock market. And lastly, foreign investors are also increasingly participating in the Indian markets. In 2020 alone, the Indian stock market recorded a net inflow of ₹1.4 lakh crore from this segment of investors.
